Goldenberg Family

Originally from Bessarabia. This may have been the then country of Bessarabia or the town of Bessarabka (Basarabeasca) which is now in Moldova close to the border with Ukraine.
In the UK 1901 census, they show Odessa as their place of birth. However, this could also mean that they came from Odessa. Odessa being the port from whence they emigrated.

The family "rumour mill" has suggested that Myer and Frimka moved to Odessa and Myer was a stevedore there for a while and suffered some injury whilst working in the docks.
I was then suggested that they moved to Turkey, then Marseilles, followed by Paris, and then eventually London.
